Yeah it's all my own work. I've been writing poetry, rants and bits n bats since I was 18. Glad you like! There's plenty more where that came from.

You are really good, Darth...very deep! When Oli comes on later I'll ask him to put up a poetry thread. Oli also writes poetry...be nice to have it all on one thread. :-)

PostSubject: THE GREENWOOD Mon Aug 19, 2013 10:56 pm

THE GREENWOOD

Like a sea of dancing green,
Twisting and turning,
Like a sweet summer dream.

The roar of wooshing waves,
Through leaves of glistening verde.
A sound so sweet and relaxing,
Never forgotten, once heard.

The creak of bending branch,
Stretching with complaint.
The sigh of silent voices,
So gentle and so faint.

Natures ancient guardians,
Standing lofty and aloof.
Stand watch and offer protection,
Bending boughs, a living roof.

Splintering hands,
Reaching tall for the sky.
The cool damp earth,
Feeding leaves upon high.

Teeming with life,
Cold roots and warming blood.
Looking back through times long gone,
Misused and misunderstood.

Long may the sentinels live,
To watch where once we stood.
On top of distant mountains,
Below in dark dank woods

PostSubject: FREE AS A WORD Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:15 pm

FREE AS A WORD

The written word,
In itself can't be heard,
Unless in prose or song.
Yet once laid down,
With verb and noun,
They last for many years, long.

Stand the test of time,
In poem, ode and rhyme,
Much longer than the rich fertile soil.
That covers our sad tomb,
Within natures tender womb,
As we shuffle from our short mortal coil.

Thence the words are nought,
But a whispy afterthought,
A moment in time we can see.
And in a moment of bliss,
With a tender loving kiss,
Turn them loose, set them free.

Forever to be read,
To pleasure and please.
A memory drifting by,
On a gentle summer breeze.

PostSubject: SPECTRE Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:16 pm

SPECTRE

Drifting by my window pane,
On a cold dark winters eve.
No sign or trace, no echo or sound,
No path to follow or deceive.

A silent spectre, ethereal form,
A hazy memory, from life, 'twas torn.
Jealously wanting what now it resents,
An anger no mortal can perceive or prevent.

A pulsating obsession of hate and desire,
Feeding the flames and stoking the fire.
Trying to cross over the bridge to our plane,
Resolute and relentless, a moth to a flame.

Pushing and pushing with all of it's might,
Glimmered eyes ignoring the light.
With a cry of despair it gives up the fight,
Slowly moves on into the deep, dark night.

PostSubject: THE SPIDER AND THE CHIP Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:18 pm

THE SPIDER & THE CHIP

A spider crawled across my floor,
Until it came upon my door.
It looked at me and gave a knock,
And gestured up towards the lock.

So as I arose,
And upon my feet,
With a cheeky grin,
Our eyes they did meet.

Approaching the door,
He seemed to ignore,
My warm reply
And questioning eye.

As I reached for the handle,
With a tip of my hat,
He turned and ran,
To where I was sat.

He climbed the settee,
And reached for my plate.
He then pinched a chip,
And merrily he ate.

When he was done
He looked at me,
With a smile and a nod
And a wink.

He scuttled across
And under the door,
And disappeared
Under the sink.

PostSubject: THE LIONS ROAR Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:21 pm

THE LIONS ROAR

Northumberland to Newcastle
And Cumbria's lofty hills.
Durham down through Cleveland
To Yorkshire's misty dales.

Across to dear old Lancashire
It's Mancs and Scousers too.
Cheshire, Staffs and Shropshire
The Severn lands of dew

Across into the Midlands
Leicester, Notts., and Brum
Derbyshire to Warwick
You can hear the voices hum

From Humberside and Lincolnshire
Northants and Norfolk too
From Suffolk back through Cambridgeshire
East Anglian pride so true

From Oxfordshire and Gloucester
Wiltshire, Bristol and Bucks
Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey
Where aisle of Wight she tucks

Hertford, Essex and London
North and south the Thames
Through Kent and down through Sussex
The south coast to defend

Across the west to Devon
Dorset, Somerset blends
And right on down through Cornwall
Until we reach Lands End

So many hearts of England
Will hear the call to arms
From factory, field and fairway
From steelworks, docks and farms

From ere they come
To answer the call
To defend our shores
And prevent her fall

For Britain is in direst need
Defend her to the core!
Unite as one, with claws now raised,
And hear the lions roar!

PostSubject: A MOUSES TAIL Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:23 pm

A MOUSES TAIL

“It’s not my fault”, cried the mouse in dismay.
“I though I knew where I was, but appear to have lost my way”.
Sat at the foot of my bed, with his hands under his head, he tried, through his tears, to relate what is here...

I set out early this morn, after nibbling on some corn,
For my breakfast, on the cob is best.
I was planning to go to "The Great Mouse Show".
A long walk it is, but not one to miss,
And confident I was, well, you know.

With my stout, trusty stick and my cloak, good and thick,
I set out on the long, winding road.
It was a lovely, quiet day and not many passed my way,
Except a snail and a croaky, black toad.

The sun rising high and warming the sky,
Not a cloud, just some bee's and and a fly.
A warm, gentle breeze blowing softly through the trees,
Kind of day that warms your heart with a sigh.

The going was tough and I soon cried aloud,
"What a mess of soil and toil",
For the field was freshly ploughed!

The furrows at once high and then valley deep,
Was enough to make a grown mouse squeak!
But I tucked in my tail and continued my trail,
Well the show was only on for one week!

After long hours of drudge, aching back and tender feet,
I decided, "No further can I go".
Well I'm only a mouse, and despite what you've heard,
We only have small legs you know!

With a weary old sigh, off to one side I did spy,
A nice bit of shade neath a tree.
I hobbled across and settled myself down,
And said, "Now this'll do for me".

After quenching my thirst with some juice I had brought,
I felt my little nose start to hum.
With a weary old frown, I got up from the ground,
That's all I need now, I've caught the sun!

Without further ado, I continued and pushed through,
A hedgerow at the end of the field.
I must be nearly there, well if not, half way at the least,
To myself I despairingly appealed.

Just a jaunty quick stride along the edge of the road,
Past many a house nice and lush.
I sauntered along and was humming a tune,
I'll be there very soon, no more fuss.

But with time marching on,
And the sun now long gone,
I said, "Sod this, I'll go get the bus".

The number 36 should just do the trick,
So I stood at the stop, in a line.
Before very long, with a familiar song,
The bus came to a halt with a whine.

I took up my seat with my tired achy feet,
And decide to massage and squeeze.
But I jumped from my skin and returned just therein,
As the woman behind gave a sneeze!

She cried, "It's no good", from inside her hood,
"I'm allergic the mice, dogs and trees".

"Which ones?", I enquired, holding on to my cheese,
"Big leaves and acorns attached?".
"Don't be daft", she replied, "They're conkers my dear,
And anyway my cottage is thatched!"?

Well with that, I am sure, I ran for the door,
Trying hard but just couldn't believe.
What my ears had just heard, "She's as daft as a bird",
I exclaimed, feeling, now quite relieved.

"We'll have less of that!", said a sparrow who was sat,
On a lamppost and looking all pleased.
I said, "Perhaps it's time, yes, quite certain that it is,
That I took from your grace, my leave".

But just never mind, for looking behind,
I cried with a modicum of glee.
For just over the fence at the end of the lane,
Was the end of the road for me.

Bustling with people, neath a tall church steeple,
Was the event I had dreamed of for days.
With stalls in abundance, food and drink on big tables,
And cakes on pretty pink trays.

But my joy was short-lived as I noticed a sign,
Above a gate with the entrance below.
I read, in confusion, "It must be an illusion?",
For the sign read 'The Great MOOSE Show".

Well, I turned round in amazed disbelief,
Shook my head and trundled away.
Shed a tear from my eye, and just couldn't deny
It had certainly ruined my day.

With my head hanging low, I decided to go,
"But to where?", I asked my tired eyes.
So I aimed myself east, and said, "Well at least,
A full moon is high in the sky".

Now, before very long, I caught the faint smell,
Of fresh bread and tasty white cheese.
I crept in through the door, and from down on the floor,
I asked, "Could I have a bit, please?".

And so here I am, eating bread, cheese and ham,
With my spirits beginning to rise.
On the end of your bed, with a story to be read,
With a twinkle of mirth in your eyes.

But, alas, I must go, for it's getting quite late,
And my wife will be wondering where.
I should be back home, tucked up nicely in bed,
And dreaming without any care.

So thanks for your help, your ears and your ham,
Much better, I'm feeling, I am!
I may, again, pass this way, on a nice sunny day,
A-pushing my kids in a pram.

But before that bright day, and not a moment too soon.
I'm gonna up-grade me glasses with a powerful zoom!

PostSubject: TWILIGHT DELIVERY Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:31 pm

TWILIGHT DELIVERY

The flashing light.

Like the call of a distant beacon in the misty, grey dawn signals from across the deserted embankment.
It's silent message calling out to a world still wrapped in the strong arms of slumber.
Only the glance from my sleepy eyes acknowledging it's incessant song in this peaceful twilight world.
I wonder at the answer, would that I could understand it's question.

And still, it draws me into it's intoxicating world with the pulsing rhythm of it's incandescent heart.
My mesmerised mind drifts along a strange, disconnected road.
The more I try to focus on the silent sentinel the more I drift from my body onto it's ethereal plane.

The metallic clank of a closing gate breaks the spell and draws me back.
It's time for the next delivery.

The empty school lies cold and deserted.
The mournful silence of it's classroom's and halls.
The stillness and tranquility of it's dark, lonely world punctuated by an occasional click and tap as it's metallic arteries creak grudgingly back to life.
The old mechanical heart starts pumping, once more, a warm spring of life into it's cold dark walls.
Tears of condensation retreat against the onslaught of warming breath.
The dreaming playground comes to life with the sound of children playing games, the like of which I can only wonder.
Ethereal spectres racing around with cries of glee and distant song.

Something calls for my attention.
Dragging me away from the spectacle for no more than an instant.
And the dream is gone.
The vision, now no more than a distant memory.
All is silent, all is still.
The calm before the storm of the coming day.

The gleam of the twinkling tail-light says
It's time for the next delivery.

Sitting on a cold wooden bench.
I can see the early morning dew glistening on the neatly tended lawn.
The tree-lined barrier dripping with the moisture of natures breath.
Leaves of wet leather dance on slowly swaying branches.
All is quiet.

And yet the silence only serves to intensify the sounds so taken for granted.
The melodious calls of fluttering birds stretching wing and wonder.
Tireless spiders weaving webs of mystery amongst the trees bountiful arms.
The swish of passing wheels cutting a steady swath along the wet ribbon of road.
The distant, muted hammering of man and machine in the distant steelworks, like some strange metallic beast awakening to the new dawn.

I sit watching, listening, feeling.
A strange calmness descends like a warming blanket and for that single sweet moment I am at one with the dawn and all it's waking glory.
Time stands still as the dawn chorus fills me with the splendour of it's symphony, pulsating through my veins like a euphoric yet calming drug.
In a trance-like state I contemplate the majesty of the living, breathing world.

The creaking of the entrance hall door sends ripples through my lake of panacea.
It's time to drag myself away for the next delivery.

Muscles tense as I struggle to gain momentum on my trusty steel steed.
The chill morning air bites through to the bone as tears conspire with the cold to try to keep their secrets from wide, watchful eyes.
Pulse is rising, heart beating faster, breath becoming laboured as the icy air sears it's way to the very core of my being.

The squeal of biting brakes bring us a halt once more.
Leaving mind and body to the struggle for equilibrium.

And now, the journey home.
Marvelling at the the dramatic scenery before me.
The slowly rising sun setting fire to the scattering clouds as they float lazily through the burning skies of dawn.
High and distant vapour trails blazing their marks like crimson scars across the flesh of the heavens.

Mother Nature in all her grace and splendour!

And all the while
Behind the curtains,
Beneath warm sheets,
And within loving arms.
The living slumber on.

Sweet dreams!

PostSubject: A FAST NEEDS A BREAK Tue Sep 03, 2013 1:21 pm

A FAST NEEDS A BREAK

Wait a moment, it won't be long
And as those words were uttered
They just felt so wrong

We've buggered it up and your blood's now too thin
You'll have to wait till tomorrow
I just can't seem to win!

"Does that now mean," I beseachingly enquire
"I can have somethig to eat please, before I expire?"
Nurse looks at me with a sneering grin
"Sorry but no, they might rush you in!"

The tea and toast from six a.m.
Is wearing thin and I'm chewing the hem, of my vest.
Not as tasty as a cottage pie
But if i don't eat somethng I'll fade away and die

Licking my fingers and biting my nails
Gotta find sustenance, but to no avail
Trawling the corridors, rooting through bins
Checking in packets, wrappers and tins

Sniffing around for the sweet smell of food
Paitients giving me the eye, thinking "How rude!"
But a desperate predator is what I've become
Hoping and praying that I'll find a stale bun

Aha! A plan and it's sure to succeed
I'll wait for dinner time when the others feed
Watch for the one who's nodding in his chair
A sly look around and I'm off with his fare

A dark, quiet cupboard to hide and to eat
Then back to my bed and off my ahchy feet
And when nurse arrives with a questioning eye
A satisfied grin will be her only reply

My tummy is now full
And there's mud in your eye
But mum's the word
Only you and I know why!

PostSubject: AN ABSENT MINDED MOUSE Sat Sep 07, 2013 10:29 am

AN ABSENT MINDED MOUSE

I once saw a mouse,
Upon a dolls house,
A sniffing and twitching his nose.
I asked how he was,
And he looked right across,
And said, "Not too bad, I suppose".

I asked, "Are you waiting,
For someone or thing?".
He sighed, "No, I'm lost,
And it's a fine ding-a-ling!".

Said I, "Can I help or show you the way.
Where were you headed or going today?".
He said, "I don't know because I'm really quite small.
I thought I'd remember but I just can't recall".

He started to sniffle,
Then started to cry.
I said, "Now don't get upset".
"I'm not, I've something in me eye!".

I gave him a hankie,
"See if this helps".
He wiped his face,
Blew his nose and yelped!

I asked, "What's wrong now,
Have you hurt your nose?".
"No", he replied,
"I've just stubbed me toes!".

He shuddered and trembled,
And gave a great sneeze.
He cried, "I've remembered,
I was going for some cheese!".

He thanked me and said,
"I must be on my way.
The shop will soon close,
It's Wednesday, half day!".

He scuttled away,
With his tail close behind.
I thought, "That was strange,
It'll play on my mind".

"That hankie was a gift,
From my great uncle Bob.
That rascal just stole it,
Without even a nod".

PostSubject: THE RELIGION OF PEACE Mon Sep 09, 2013 12:08 pm

WARNING: ADULT MATERIAL!!

THE RELIGION OF PEACE

Chat shows, newsnight, papers on the street
Swanning around with his sandals on his feet
Preaching his shite and spouting his hate
Banging on & on about the west and its fate

Welcome to the hell fires, welcome to the pain
Welcome to shariah and a world of bloody stains
Welcome to the jiziah, you know you have to pay
Welcome to the swinging blade, take your pain away

~
Andrew Chowdrey and his band of dizzy twats
Noncing around in their jammies and their hats
Smug little smiles grinning out from in their fuzz
Poor little Andy, you'll always be a muzz
~

Islam, a peaceful thing, you're welcome to embrace
The religion of peace, just another master race
Fighting and killing and fucking all that breathes
Ranting and jeering at those who don't believe

Strapping on a nice new bra, wired up to blow
Off to the shopping mall, a tug and up we go
Off to meet the virgins they promised with their toys
Allah not so Akbah, they're fucking ladyboys

~
Andrew Chowdrey and his band of dizzy twats
Noncing around in their jammies and their hats
Smug little smiles grinning out from in their fuzz
Poor little Andy, you'll always be a muzz
~

Hiding in their burkahs, the women hope and prey
The flesh that they were born with is safely hid away
From prying eyes and sneaky looks of those now on the take
It don't take very much to make them want to beat and rape

So come now one and all, embrace a life of peace
Roll out your mat, take off your shoes and get down on your knees
Give thanks to dear Mohamed, a peaceful loving man
Say Hi to wife Aiesha, asleep within her pram

~
Andrew Chowdrey and his band of dizzy twats
Noncing around in their jammies and their hats
Smug little smiles grinning wild like little runts
Poor little Andy, you'll always be a cunt!

WARNING: ADULT MATERIAL!! Brilliant Darth, I hope you don't mind me posting it on twitter? It's too good not to share :-) You are a Star!!!

Islam, a peaceful thing, you're welcome to embrace
The religion of peace, just another master race
Fighting and killing and fucking all that breathes
Ranting and jeering at those who don't believe

Strapping on a nice new bra, wired up to blow
Off to the shopping mall, a tug and up we go
Off to meet the virgins they promised with their toys
Allah not so Akbah, they're fucking ladyboys

Andrew Chowdrey and his band of dizzy twats
Noncing around in their jammies and their hats
Smug little smiles grinning out from in their fuzz
Poor little Andy, you'll always be a muzz

Hiding in their burkahs, the women hope and prey
The flesh that they were born with is safely hid away
From prying eyes and sneaky looks of those now on the take
It don't take very much to make them want to beat and rape

So come now one and all, embrace a life of peace
Roll out your mat, take off your shoes and get down on your knees
Give thanks to dear Mohamed, a peaceful loving man
Say Hi to wife Aiesha, asleep within her pram

Andrew Chowdrey and his band of dizzy twats
Noncing around in their jammies and their hats
Smug little smiles grinning wild like little runts
Poor little Andy, you'll always be a cunt!
